Fisrt Rover. Just checking in.
Hi everyone. I just picked up my first LR a couple days ago. I have been lurking here for a while, more so as I started seriously shopping around for a Disco. A little background on me & cars:
In general, I have a preference for luxury vehicles & gadgets over fuel economy & inexpensive repairs. Over the last 10 years or so, I have driven either a Mercedes or a SAAB. I got tired of PITA parts availablity & suprise electrical gremlins. I decided to buy the most basic of vehicles... I wanted something that I could fix with a hammer & some duct tape. A jeep Wrangler. And so it was. It was easy to repair, the parts were readily available, and it started my love of off roading.
I decided that after a couple years of the Wrangler as my daily driver/ weekend fun vechicle that I didn't really go wheeling enough to compensate for the lack of automobile convieniences I had given up. I missed the finer things in life like... actual hinge stops holding my doors closed rather than canvas straps, a real trunk to fit camping and fishing gear into, you know the little things... like a roof.
I decided a few months back that a Land Rover Discovery would be the prefect blend of both.
So here she is:

1999 SE7
99k
Looks and drives like it was new.
The inside is in awesome shape for being almost 10 years old IMO
Loaded with options, almost all of which work. Ha ha ha. The cruise control isn't working right now. I'm hoping it's a simple fix like a vacuum line.
Headgasket replaced a little over a year ago.
New front driveshaft done at 95k
also had 90k service done at 95k. New hoses, serp belt, all the pullys replaced.
engine is clean and dry as can be. Not a single leak!
anyways, just wanted to say hello. Looking forward to my Rover learning adventure here!

RE: Fisrt Rover. Just checking in.
I did some checking last night & it look slike I have some vacuum lines completely missing from my cruise control servo? Anyone know of a good place to get pictures or diagrams of what things should be looking like there? I also have some loose ones near the firewall that I'm not sure about.
The Driveshaft was replaced just about 6 months ago @ 95k miles. They did replace the U-joint with one that can be greased.

You need to get the rave cd. http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.p...&Itemid=29
I burned the image file to a disc with my mac so if you need help getting it to a disk let me know. I could even mail you one if worse comes to worse. This CD has everything you could need to work on and maintain a LR, and welcome to the community.
