Default Flashing hazard lights cranks but no start

My 02 D2 will not start, the hazards come on, and will not cut off without removing the battery cable. Also this happened while I was driving but the engine did not cut out. The doors all unlocked as well. I have already replaced the inertia switch and the pig tail. It cranked up after that and I drove around for an hour, shutting off the vehicle and starting it several times. The next morning I had the no start and hazards issue again. It has not started since. Any and all causes or items to check? I’m going to put some time into this tomorrow. Please help so I can park my Corolla!

Since it happen while driving and you're getting four way flashers afterwards/during...

l'd check the condition of battery, have it load tested at parts store or garage. Check battery terminals, known failure area...over time...they just don't tighten up like they should. Check ground cable at alternator bracket, remove, clean terminal and area on bracket, reinstall bolt. Then check below engine compartment fuse box, remove and look for rubbed wires underneath. If you are getting any type of water inside drivers area, check drivers compartment fuse box for corrosion...you have to drop it down and examine the terminals. Another area to check for intermittent electrical issues is...where the harness passes through firewall, just below SAI pump...grommet gets puled out and wires rub through.

Normally, you'd check Crank Position Sensor if it was dying intermittently...but since you're getting four way flashers...l'm thinking short or loss of ground.

Thanks. I’m currently charging the battery because I saw in another thread that it should be at 12.5 VDC when starting. Po had installed two batteries so I’m isolating that. Will check alternator. I’ve been under both fuse boxes and I will check the firewall port and other grounds. Will report back later today.

Would the crank sensor cause the lights to flash though?

Also, one of the batteries was not taking charge. Removed it and installed just the one good battery. Checked firewall. Grommet is good and wires are fine. Cleaned several grounds but no dice. Not sure that I got all of them. Alt ground was good. I did not see any bad wires in the compartment underneath the passenger side dash. The red led on the dash is not blinking or illuminated. No error codes on my ultra gauge. I still have flashing lights and no start. I have tried leaving it in the on position for 15 min and locking and unlocking five times.

Yeah, this would make sense...especially since the doors are unlocking and flashers are activated...but he says he replaced it and plug in first post. Granted, he could have an issue in the harness somewhere leading to the switch. One question, he says it won't crank...and l've never had an inertia switch issue myself...but does it stop the engine from cranking or just shut fuel pump off and not allow it to start (but cranks)?

Something in my pea-brain says the alarm will deactivate starter motor, but inertia doesn't. Hopefully, someone will know forsure. It's funny, since getting the 110...l've forgotten most of what l knew about the Dll's...lol.

A tripped inertia switch will allow the engine to turn over (i.e. crank) but not start. I think the OP may be misusing the term "crank."

Yes it does crank. No start. I have tried to edit the post but the title will not change. Yes, I have changed the inertia switch and it’s pigtail. I didn’t see in the rave which two pins it connects to on the computer. If anyone knows I could try jumping it under the dash just in case I missed something on the wire.

Had something similar... The car would actually stop while I was driving then flash. If I jiggled the battery cable it would sometimes start. Lots of $ and troubleshooting to find out that the kill switch wire clip had broken and the connection was getting lost. LR told me to get out a glue gun and glue the damn thing.
No more problems
