Oh how true! My block cracked after owning mine just over a year. After getting my Turner long block it feels like a new truck though. It's a large investment, but well worth it if you plan on keeping the truck long term. I hope prices go up. I will never sell mine, but at least I'd feel it is worth closer to the $20k+ I have in it. Wishful thinking, I know. I only paid $5k for a very clean 04 when I bought it. That just goes to show how quickly a new engine, cooling system, full suspension, brakes, tires, roof rack, etc. can add up. I have replaced so much stuff on my truck it is damn near a restoration at this point. It is nice having more power, no leaks, no codes....just a great running Disco!
Puked coolant while driving home one night. Temp went from 195 to 250 in literally seconds. Towed it home. Replaced thermostat, bled, idled fine for 30 minutes. Drove a quarter mile, puked coolant. Had misfire codes for a cylinder that was not near a coolant passage, so couldn't be headgasket. Exhaust gas was entering the cooling system. Block was toast. Never had any previous symptoms and never used a drop of coolant.

Exactly what was going on with my truck before I ordered a Turner engine as well.
WAY overpriced but atleast it isnt nearly as tacky as the other one. Still, mods don't add value. If anything they add half their value to the truck. Example. You add $1000 bumper to a $2500 truck it doesnt become a $5000 truck. If anything it comes a $3000 truck.
All those mods add lots of Weight. Buy the lowest mileage, lowest weight and biggest engine you can afford. I have a ‘03 4.6 plain vanilla S and I can definitely tell the difference in power when driving a 4.0 SE7. My lighter S is a blast to drive and the leatherette still looks new. Rust free, well maintained low mileage Disco II will go for above $15,000 easily. There was one on eBay 2 weeks ago with 20,000 miles that went up to $14,600 but it didn’t meet reserves.
