Question Force T-Case into gear?

My last thread went stale so now all I want to know is if there is any way to manually lock the collar over the dog teeth? Is there a spot from the inside or outside that I can push on it to get it fully locked in?? The lever itself doesnt seem to push it far enough.. Even with the cable disconnected..

From the bottom, I can see that my collar seems a bit loose and will not go all the way into locked position against the gear. I am reluctant to really force it, but if you guys have any advice, I will try it. could I crow bar the thing without damaging anything?? I have had the truck 10 years and never once shifted out of 4HI and I don't plan to either..

Thanks

So I dug around today and pulled out my detent screws and springs and found out I forgot to put the detent ***** back in it. The ***** are back in it now and it seems to engage the H-gear a bit better but not fully. I can still see about 1/32 of an inch of teech that are still slightly exposed in front of the dog clutch. Could the detent ***** have been causing the transfer case to want to slip out of 4H while driving? I put them back in and got the screws flush with the case and it didn't seem like there was a lot of load on the the screw when I was turning it.

Yes, without the detent ***** in there...it would want to disengage...especially on deceleration. Also, if you aren't rocking/moving the vehicle a little bit, it may not want to fully engage.

Not sure what you are talking about, as far as, the screws not having a load on them.

Brian.

Glad to hear you're getting closer.

Did you measure the shifting lobes, forks, and troughs to see if they are within spec per the repair manual(RAVE)?

Figured it out... When putting the T-case back together, the dog collar shaft was not lining up correctly. So I held the collar in 4 High with a pry bar while we installed it.. now it works just fine... so far
