Greetings... Quick question, and thank you in advance for any guidance.
My wife's 1999 Discovery blew an engine gasket, with 127k on the motor, but the chassis frame is toast. It's in fairly good shape otherwise, but the garage doesn't want to repair the gasket in good conscience. Is there a place on the forum regarding posting any information?
We'd like to see it get put to good use.
Many thanks.

Yes - It was running great until the gasket went. Apparently it's about $3k for the repair, but the garage said that the frame isn't safe, and the replacement is big bucks.
It's got surface rust starting from the rear doors to the axle - and that's where it's disintegrating. Toasted is an understatement. I never thought that you could break off sections of steel with your bare hands.
We're sad to see it go. Only a fellow Disco owner might know the feeling... It's a love hate thing in trying to keep it on the road.
Still, it looks pretty good for 21 years - and it might hold some value for anyone looking for parts...
It still looks pretty good even at 21 years old...
It's gorgeous. To many of us here, the engine trouble is a couple of weekends job, but the frame, while doable, is a whole 'nuther thing without a big garage and a two-post lift.
I hate that what appears to be an otherwise good DII will go to the crusher but that's likely what will happen. Maybe Paul Grant can buy it and part it out. He's in Connecticut. That way parts of it would live on, like an organ donor. You can send Paul a private message via the forum, or contact him by email or phone at the addresses or number below. (Paul includes all his contact information in every one of his forum posts so I don't think I'm committing any privacy infraction.)
Thank you all for the replies - and to everyone who has shown interest. We were lucky enough to come across someone locally and made a deal.
All the best to everyone - and take good care!
