Found a Disco for sale, but it fails emissions????
I have found a 2000 Disco ii with 114K for sale at a Ford dealership. The salesman tells me that the truck runs and drives perfectly, but it fails emissions tests and sometimes the check engine light comes on. Since the dealership is in Georgia which is an emissions testing zone, I have haggled him down to $4500.00. I live in Alabama where emissions don't matter. I am going to drive the truck this weekend and am planning on stopping in at an Autozone and having the codes read.
So I'm wondering. Is there is a list of all the codes for this truck somewhere I can print off and take with me so I'll know what is wrong with the truck?
Also What usually makes these trucks fail emissions and would it hurt the truck to drive it anyway?
I did search for my answer but didn't quite find what I'm looking for. Thank you so much for your help!

Yup, get the codes and we'll let you know if it something you need to pass up, or if its nothing at all. Sometimes if wont pass those tests if the check engine light is on. So that might be the problem. Like I said get the codes and go from there.

www.lrrforums.comlook under the Disco tab and search for the codes. I think it is a sticky. Also, iequus.com if you have internet access from your phone.
To answer your question, yes it can hurt the truck, depending on what is wrong. If the CEL is on, it will fail emissions just because it is on. If you are driving it back to AL, make sure and run premium unleaded and drop a can of B&G 44K in the tank. She will like it.

P0171- System too lean (bank 1)
p0174- System too lean (bank 2)
p0743- Torque converotr clutchcircuit electrical
Do you mean
p1509 instead of p1590? I could not find that last number, if you meant p1509 then:
p1509- Idle speed control short circuit fault
These look easy so good luck.

p0743 was a mistake! I meant to put p0734....I'm sorry! So anyone know anything about it?
P1590
ABS rough road signal circuit malfunction
Hardware is OK, but SLABS ECU is sending an error signal
That's what I found on here about that code.
I'm more worried about the torque converter code. Anyone know anything about it?
