Found a Disco for sale, but it fails emissions????
is it 160.00 at the store you mentioned? And another thing is that the truck is 150 miles away. Will it hurt the truck to drive it home like this?
No, it wont hurt it as long as it runs fine.
You can buy the MAF and bring it with you and replace it before you drive the trk home.
I dont know who has a MAF for $160 but www.atlanticbritish.com has them for $250.
Two clamps and a wire connection is all that there is to remove it. Bring a new air filter with you too. Just go toany auto parts storefor the airfilter.
If you cant get the new MAF before you buy it, then just drive it home and park it until you can get a new one.

Open the hood, stand in front of the trk.On the right side in the front will be the airbox, that is where the airfilter is.
Follow the tube from the airbox towards the engine. In between the engine and the airbox is the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF), remove the two clamps, one on each end, unplug the wire harness, remove the MAF.
Plug in the new one, re-attach the clamps and you are done. If you have NO mechanical knowledge it will take you maybe 30 min.
You can drive the trk with a bad MAF, ddepending on how bad it is. When it gets really bad it just wont run. But it will progressevlly get worse.
Dont put it in backwards. The honeycomb part goes towards the front of the trk. It should be marked, but just pay attention to which way the old one comes out.
And the most important thing to remember...NO K&N AIR FILTERS!!!

Buy one and bring it with you. I would swap it out before you make that kind of trek home.
