Default Friction Modifier

does anyone have any experience using a friction modifier like archoil? would it be good, bad or ??? in a 99 disco 2. I use it in my Powerstroke and it works great. looking for pros or cons. or any other information. Thanks

I'd only use it if the transmission shudders. I wouldn't use it to get softer shifting. That is slipping and slipping is heat and heat will wear out the transmission faster. Otherwise just plain transmission fluid should be fine in a D2.

how about the crank case. it really made my diesel quite down on cold starts. just not sure how it would work in aluminum block. got 200K on it and want to make it last a little longer

I'd just use a good synthetic 5w40 or 5w50 if you can find it. A pretty smart guy suggested on another forum that the 15w40 oil that people are using it a little too thick for cold start-ups, especially for the type of oil pump used in a D2.

It's funny you say that. I've been thinking it for years.
