Default Front Cover Oil Port Choice (Could this cause false readings???)

I've had both a loss of oil pressure at start and a reduction in hot/idle pressure that has driven me to disasseble my engine. The oil pressure light was lite when I identified no pressure at start. So I'm pretty sure my oil pressure issue is not related to this but who knows..

I have examined the front cover and the port in which I've used for tapping into oil pressure for the after market gauge. I have been using the port indicated in the Oil Pressure install located on the STICKY.

I haven't had what I thought was problem with reading the pressure using this port but what I found leads me to ask this question. Is the pressure reading accurate and correct?

This port is located just above the filter housing on the pickup/suction side of the pump. The output would be the port where the factory sensor is located and the port above this is within the same pressure path.

The readings are clearly not negative but would this reading actually be decreased from what is read at the factory port since it is on the pick up side?

The RAVE manual has you checking pressure at the factory port not this port which also give me concern on the pressure reading.

Please disregard the above. After further investigation this is not the suction side of the pump or pick up. Must some how be related to the pressure side. It makes more sense to use the port above the factory oil pressure sensor vs. usign the port below it. The port above is a 1/8 NPT x 12M 1.5.
