Front Differential Flange Holes Not Lining Up with Driveshaft Yolk Holes
Hello all, just joined the forum. I just picked up a 2004 Discovery that was worked on and the kid gave up on it. It appears the front diff and/or the flange was replaced and the new front drive shaft that came with the truck ( not installed) holes in flange don’t match holes in diff flange. Not sure if I need a different yolk on drive shaft or different diff flange. Pics show the dimensions of holes. Any help appreciated. Yolk on old driveshaft that matches new driveshaft Front Diff Flange.
Well that flange in your photos from the drive shaft looks like it is the centering ball flange and that end goes on the transfer case not on the differential flange.
Thanks Extinct. So I have the driveshaft bassackwords? I thought I tried fitting it that way. Gotta triple check tomorrow. Appreciate it. What side does the double jointed side go on? I thought front diff?

Thanks guys. Duhhh. I blame working under the truck outside 22 degrees. Warmer today (28) gonna get under it today and install. Just trying to decipher what the kid that owned it before me did to it. I will be back here again asking more as I go. Had a 97 Disco, 1990 RR Classic, 1995 RRClassic, 2004 Range Rover, and presently have a 2008 Range Rover and this 04 Discovery. Just recently replaced the front subframe on the Rover.
Crazy I never messed with a driveshaft after maintaining all those previous rovers. Thanks again.
It seems that the flange on the replacement gearbox is different from the flange on the old gearbox hence driveshaft bolt holes not lining up. Driveshaft fits perfectly on old gearbox flange. Can I just swap these flanges out? Probably need a seal kit or something I’m guessing. Thanks again Flange on replacement gear box Flange on old gearbox
Thanks. I have it ordered. Just trying to figure out the unplugged connectors above the transfer case that were cable tied. 2 are clean 2 are faded and weathered.
