front drive shaft
Remove the nuts holding it on at each end....8 of them total.
When you have it off, take it to a driveline shop and have them re-build it. $200 with balancing. Make sure they replace the u-joints with greasable one's
Tom Woods makes a good replacement if you want to spend more $$...

Mike, what is the "centering ball"?
Another thing, if you are going to take the shaft to a shop to replace the u-joints, why not take the whole car? I doubt they will give you any credit for pulling the shaft yourself. I myself have changed several u-joints in different cars, never gone to a shop, though I admit that a couple of times, while in the middle of it, I have wished I had paid someone else LOL.

The centering ball is a ball that centers the two u-joints in the double cardon joint.
A double cardon joint is 2 u-joints side by side, you need the centering ball to keep them alinghed with each other.
If you take in the whole car the shop is going to charge you to remove and replace the drive shaft.
If you remove/replace it yourself you will save a good $50.

I just replaced my front driveshaft...removed it and went to the driveshaft shop and because the yoke was so warn, they could only cut and re-weld the old shaft, and put new greasable u-joints. They wanted 450 bucks to do it. My advice is save yourself the aggravation, buy a new one on ebay, that is what I did and drove the car carefully with the CDL engaged for 3 days. It's an hour to put it in. Here's one on ebay, 2 year guarantee, $325.00 bucks.

Amen to that. Had all my joints repalced with greaseables, and was still virgin enough to not insist on getting the centering ball replaced. Thirty miles down the road my rig was shaking like a chihuahua, well, like my chihuahua. Anyway, I got lucky and no other damage was done except for a towing bill and more labor at the shop.
