Post front drive shaft

I have removed the engine on our DII for a over heat issue and while removing it I remembered something about the front drive shaft needing to be updated. Is there anyway to tell if this has been done? It has a grease fitting in the middle but no grease fittings on the U joints.--------------Jneil

Sounds like it has not been done. You either need to rebuild it with greasable u-joints for around $80:

Or have it rebuilt for around $250 or buy a Tom Wood's driveshaft for $350.

Should have a total of 3 grease fitting and one plug, if not rebuild it.
Why are you removing your engine?

Thanks Guys, to answer your question Mike I had to remove the engine because of an overheat issue we had and now have coolant in the oil. I plan to check out the engine and see if it can be salvaged and re-sleeved with tophat liners. As it sits now its not worth much with a bad engine. I will give updates as I go along. JNEIL

Just pull the shaft out and bring it to a driveline shop--they can replace the joints for you and it is really quite cheap--if your motor is running to make it worthwhile.
