Get the whole shaft all done for you.
Even if you can fix it and try to save some money, you may find
that the shaft you hack together is not balanced and will vibrate.

Take that shaft to a professional drive line shop in your city.

No. That's for 1310 series u-joints. The OE propshaft uses 1300 series u-joints.

 

I need to replace the U-Joints anyway so could I just rebuild it with 1310 series U-Joints and that H Yoke?

 

I don't want to sound rude but why are you wanting so badly to rebuild your current shaft? I can't answer if you can rebuild with 1310 or not but I can tell you it's a PITA job. I have rebuilt them before with the correct size and they almost always need rebalanced.

Plus if you don't have a good press or vice then good luck with a hammer. I just want to say that your current shaft isn't worth the trouble. Call Lucky8 and they will get you one ready to go. I just called and ordered another one this afternoon to replace the stock one I rebuilt a few months back. It took 10 min to order the shaft and a few other things. They are very easy to deal with and know what they are talking about.

I've only read good reviews about it here which is rare because people tend to share bad before the good. I'll tell you first hand in a couple of weeks though.

Also, if you are desperate to drive it you can always crawl under take of the bad one and lock in your cdl and drive around until the new one comes in.

I haven't bought that shaft from Lucky8 but I've bought a ton of parts from him over the years and have Never been disappointed with the product, the service or the price. They are a great vendor, and if there is a mistake they are fast to correct it with no hassle.

 

My son Kevin and I rebuilt the front shaft on his D2. There was vibration even though we marked each section so that we could mate it back together the same way. He bought a Tom Woods shaft. So go with Lucky8 or Tom Woods. Drive it like that and replace the transmission

 

I agree with 909wheeler. The issues alone of rebuilding the cardan double UJ is no simple feat and that's assuming there is no other damage to the propshaft castings. If there is damage it is probably difficult to get the parts and by the time you add up all of the costs of parts and re-balancing it is far safer and possibly more economical to buy a new propshaft complete. I have just rebuilt both front and rear propshafts and the front cardan rebuild was a PITA. You will need this kit DISCOVERY 2 1998 TO 2004 GKN HEAVY DUTY UJ FRONT PROPSHAFT REPAIR KIT - JGS 4x4 Land Rover Parts which includes the centering bearing plus any other damaged parts plus a re-balance if you need to replace the H yoke or any other flange trunnions. It's probably not an economic 'flyer' looking at your photos.
