Default Front Map Light

Evening,

another issue encountered once receiving the D2 back after roof lining redone. The front light will on go on when the door is open l, it won’t stay on if I turn it on manually. Now I’ve replaced it with the rear light & it’s still the same.

Been told the housing to the lamp should have a black cable with a female lug attached to the lamp. Now with the roof lining reattached I’m not willing to pull it apart to find the cable. Is there anything I can to do to create an earth ?

I have tried looking with a Boroscope , without any success.

You can splice it into the ground used for your rearview mirror.

Check wiring connections. The front and rear cargo lights look the same, and it's' common that someone hooks the ground up improperly. One or both of lamps has a single black ground wire on the car harness, and unsuspecting headliner projecteerse either hook this wire to the empty spade connector on the sunroof motor (right next to the light in front), or somewhere else. when it should be on the light unit itself. Or something like that. (I may be wrong...perhaps it goes on the sunroof, not the light. )

Either way, this is def discussed online - you can google around the forum here and figure it out, but I bet that's your issue.
