New to me 2004 Discovery 2:

ARB bull bar with winch
ARB sliders
OME HD lift with OME nitro charger sport shocks.

The vehicle sits with a noticeable rake with the front sitting lower than the rear. The on-road handling is fine but off road or over bumps very stiff ride. That’s to be expected I guess with the HD lift. I was thinking about adding shock isolators to raise the front a bit but I’m worried about making a jarring ride even worse. Any input would be appreciated. Any way of softening the ride a bit? I realize I’m probably stuck with the HD springs due to the weight up front.

 

I run OME suspension on my Tacoma. At first I had OME 886(Heavy) coils and Nitrocharger shocks and it was a bit jarring sometimes but I kind of expected it, others that run the 885(medium) and 886 coils complain all day about jarring rides. I have since moved to the OME BP51(reservoir shocks/coils) which has been a much smoother and more comfortable ride. No experience with OME on my Disco but it seems that OME may have a history of jarring ride with some of their shocks/coils.

 

Looks totally normal to me. The stiff ride comes with the territory. It will soften up in a few years if you take it out in the mountains... I found switching to TF medium shocks softened my ride.

I too have the subtle rake with the OME medium duty springs and I like it.

 

A 1” coil spacer in front often solves that sag caused by the weight of that bumper so far fwd the front axle, if that’s what your referring to

 

So if I put in the coil spacer would the quality of the ride decrease? Would there be any driveline, brakeline / Abs line or steering linkage issues that would need to be addressed?

 

A spring spacer does not effect ride quality, aside from a very small caster change.
The spring's rate and travel are unchanged.
Abs and brake lines will still reach, but may need disconnected from mounting brackets for extra slack.

 

The 1” like said above would not cause any difference in ride. If you think about it, your -1” due to the weight of that bumper.. your simply bring back up accounting for weight.

 

I know on the back you can just install D1 spring seats and get about 3/4" so I assume you could do same up front. They are about 5 bucks apeice from L8.
