Default Front steel Bumper Suggestions?

Ive been in the market for a front steel bumper for a while. Im about to buy the lucky 8 CFE front bumper with the winch package. Does anyone have any experience with it? How easy is it to install yourself?

I'm also looking for a front steel bumper for my 2003 Discovery. I looked at the Lucky 8 with the winch package and it looks very solid. In the end, I decided to go with an ARB even though their bumper supply is messed up likely due to Covid. I ultimately decided on the ARB because it is a trusted, solid design. At 50% heavier than the Lucky 8, I believe it will offer some additional protection. After watching a video on ARB construction, I became a believer. The Lucky 8 very well may be just as high quality. I don't know. The solid history of the ARB and its classic looks swayed me. The 12,000lb winch at Lucky looks great but I have a preference for Warn and think their 8,000lb winch will do well.

The reasons why ARB bumper is so heavy with the proud stance in relation to the truck are well supported by the design & history. It doesn’t necessarily make it a better bumper then the lucky 8 - or so many awesome ones
Different bumpers for different reasons and uses. Say the ARB would be overkill to replace cracked plastic facia when mall crawling. The extra weight on front of truck is arguably not ideal in on a stock truck, right?

There are also good Numbers to keep in mind when sourcing a winch. A rule of thumb is weight+half your tuck.

I have an ARB and it looks 10x tougher than the one from Lucky 8. Two pieces? No thanks.

Yup. Lotta people buy for looks.

maybe pickup a 5th cover “ keep calm and rover on” too

arb makes a great product. And they stand by them.. There are a lot of them on that thread Aaron has listed there in the link.

I looked for a front bumper replacement for a month. I decided on a "Casey Custom" front steel bumper. It looks nice and clean with an area for winch and two holes for fogs. The cost was $800. built locally in Oregon, but since has moved. Happy ever since.
