Default Front U-joints Bad, Drive on rear only?

I have had a bad vibration for a about a month now, I thought it was the cv joints but it turns out one of the front u-joints is going out. It is actually all the way out of the cap and ready to fly apart. I changed it with greasable joints 75,000 miles ago so I was suprised to see it bad already. The question is, is it ok to remove the front shaft and lock the CDL and drive on the rear shaft?

Thank you,
Willie

Id highly advise against it, Go replace all four U-joints and keep em greased. Preferably every oil change (3,000miles)

Sure you can do it while you are getting your front rebuilt.

As a means of emergency maybe, but I wouldnt do it for any other reason. Better off than on and blow on you and take everything out, but change the whole thing or the joints a.s.a.p

Thanks for the input. I'll drive my parents van for a while. Should I go with a Tom Woods shaft?

Thank you,
Willie

I really like mine and for $350 it is a great deal. Some here complain of driveshaft vibrations when going above 75 mph. I have not experienced this though.

Most of my driving is back roads when I do go on the highway I go 65-70.

Then a tom woods would be ideal. Roverguy.com sells them factory direct for $350 shipped.

You will be fine, no full throttle excelerations. How often do you lube your u-joints? Should be at least every other oil change, if you haven't been, go replace the rear also cause they will fail.

not to high jack this thread, but do you guys have the part# for the u-joints, or are they pretty universal, which would be rare for any part on a disco

I deal a lot with my local napa, they surprise me with what they carry sometimes
