I used Precision 344 from Napa. I greased them at least every other oil change. I will change the rear again just to be sure.

Every oil change (service interval is every 5k miles for normal conditions)
You must see new grease coming from around all 4 seals on each joint. Not 1, not 2, not 3...all 4.

If you use Precision 344 (or any u-joint with the zerk in the cross) make sure the the u-joint is oriented in the yoke so it's under compression, not tension, when driving forward. In other words so the yoke that's transmitting the power is moving towards the zerk fitting.
Neapco/PDQ 1-0005 u-joints have the zerk in the end cap, so you don't need to worry about it.
Don't forget to replace the center kit if you do it yourself, Neapco 7-0081NG.

No issues driving with the a propshaft removed and the CDL locked. You might have a bit more clunk is all.

I deal a lot with my local napa, they surprise me with what they carry sometimes
Percision 344 or cross it over to Spicer.

The Spicer 5-4x is no longer made. As of Feb 08 it was removed from their books, with no replacement.

Rebuilding my front prop right now.Got a precision 617 replacement ball kit from napa $60 and 3 neapco 1-0005 spiders from advance auto ( with greasable trunnions) $12 bucks a piece. Presently I am greasy, bloody knuckled and swearing at the prop but im sure with the rite amount of Jack Daniels and a big enough hammer all will work out fine.

My shaft has damage so it is not rebuildable. Does Tom Woods have them in stock or know the dimensions? I just want a stock size bolt in shaft. I was not making sure grease was coming out of all four like Tom Row was talking about. The side that failed was totally dry, all the pins were gone.

Thank you,
Willie

Yes they know the dimensions and stock them. Call Will Tillery at roverguy.com.

Careful. Advance Auto has stopped carrying Neapco/PDQ though you may have found old stock. If the box says Duralast they are not Neapco, even though Duralast is using the same PN. The Duralast are made in China.

For people with one near them, I suggest Advance Auto rather than NAPA for the centering kit.

(Ignore the "This does not fit my vehicle" comment, Advance doesn't know it fits the DII DC propshaft)
