It sounds like your window regulators are gone. I've had to replace two so far on my drivers window.

What happens is that the two little plastic wheels get deformed, especially if you are in a hot climate, and produce enough resistance to make the motor thing that the window has gone down so it stops.

All you have to do is take the door paneling out and you can see if they are deformed or not.

The first time, I purchased a completely new regulator while the second time I got a refurbished (new wheels) regulator.

It's an annoying but quite common problem with the Discos.

If your back windows work and your front dont, then take all four door panels off-Unscrew the door handles, unbolt the hand grips, then pop off the panels. Take the regulators from the back doors and put them up front making sure to switch sides (the rear left and front right are the same regulator, and the rear right and front left are the same). Stick a piece of wood inside the rear doors to hold those windows up securely before putting the panels back on. Now at least your front windows work and it didnt cost you a penny. I hope for your passenger's sake you have rear air...

as you can tell. lots of people have had the same problem. Another sourse to consider is a salvage yard. rovers and salvage yards are not to familiar. it is worth a shot. the problem is 99% a regulator. duboff.
