Default Front windscreen install

Ok got a crack on the front window and Alfa insurance will replace it wherever I take it for $50. That's how I get my money back from insurance lmao. I know. It to use safelite and I'm sure the stealerahip will cost a fortune but probably do it right. And other companies you fine folks recommend? Also when they change it out, are they supposed to replace the a pillars, windscreen cowl, and top rubber piece or what? It will be replaced in the Bham metro area

The pillars and cowl panel are both removable, but that top rubber piece gets replaced.

I knew they were removable just didn't know if they supplied the replacement push rivets or if I had too. Why has so many people had trouble with safelite

They will use some sort of trim fasteners.

Many installers damage the pillar trim and some manage to break the cowl vent. It's difficult for the most experienced D2 pillar trim puller to get them off sans damage due to age.

A wise D2 owner would prep theirs by removing cowl vent and trims prior to having anybody replace the windscreen. Replacement of broken pieces is normally on the customers dimes.

That's what I was figuring. I was gonna order new stuff when the time came and have the old stuff off because the old stuff is broke compliments of a previous winshield replacement by the previous owner. I know I'll go with the new oem a pillars from lucky8 but that fiberglass windscreen cowl is what will replace the factory one. I'm hoping it will last longer in the southern sun. Has anyone had a problem with safelite doing a heated windshield replacement

There are simple connectors on each side of screen and fairly idiot proof. Just check yours out for condition prior to installation.

You'll likely have a problem with a heated install when you get a price versus normal glass.

Get the insurers to install complete, the screen is heat glued in and if they break the trims they'll have to replace them completely. If you have a heated and tinted screen be careful they don't fob you off with some cheapo alternative. The original is Pilkington Opticool glass.
