Default Fuel Leak

I need to get back underneath my 2004 Land Rover Discovery, but thought I would put this out there as I can't find an answer on my first round of searches. I started to smell fuel while driving the truck today. When I looked underneath (engine running) there appears to be a fairly significant fuel leak on the right side toward the back of the engine. I can't quite locate the source yet, but are there any known trouble spots I should look for? Fuel line?

Yes right where the fuel line plugs in to the fuel rail.

Thanks. Just got under there again and started it cold. Had trouble starting (assuming all the fuel up front had dripped out), but did start and run fine. After a few minutes, the dripping commenced. Actually started on left side first, then on the right, but I believe it may be trailing along the engine from the left side.

How difficult is the repair? Seems like a not so friendly place to reach.

Not a real hard job take off the upper intake and its pretty accessible from there but i do not recommend you running your vehicle any longer with fuel dripping. The fuel did more than likely run along the back of the engine and then down. While you are back there you can change your wires. Right now you have fuel leaking around the area of your coil packs and that =fire.

Thanks. Yeah, that would be a bad thing. Can you think of any other potential causes? Also, what are the parts that typically fail (that I need to pick up)?

Not sure with out investigation into what has failed. It is one line that slips on to the fuel rail i am assuming that the coupling gas some how cracked or the O-ring has failed. No telling as its not common to have a fuel leak.

I realized I was too busy this week to do the work myself so dropped it off at the shop. Just got a call that, indeed, the connection from the fuel line to the fuel rail is what failed. What's more is that the connection was apparently a previous repair that was a bit rigged (couple of clamps, etc.). I haven't seen it personally yet.

Quick question for this group. Will he need to replace the entire fuel line or is there a simpler fix to just the connection. He wasn't sure and put a call in to Land Rover (that didn't strike a lot of confidence in me).

It looks like the lines are available in two sections, front and rear. Oddly enough the SAI engines have MUCH cheaper prices. I think the part number is WJP000410, but the descriptions and pictures are kind of confusing. Look to be about $100.

That's great. Thanks Jafir. I'll see what I can figure out. Maybe I can find a better list of parts.
