Tonight, while piddling under the Rover, I saw what looks and smells like gas coming from the top of the gas tank. I'm sure it is coming from the pump area.

Can anyone with specs or who has cut the carpet to access the fuel pump give me some rough measurements where to cut? I have a cover over the carpet in the back and I don't want to remove all of the plastic in the back to pull the carpet up (I almost always lose some specialty fastener when I do anything like that), so an access port via carpet is what I need.

Why in the world would you cut it? It took me 15 minutes to replace my fuel pump with rear jump seats and 15 minutes to put it all back together. If you know your prone to losing parts, have a Zip Lock baggie and put all of the parts into that so you don't lose them. Don't be lazy, do the job right the first time, even if you have a cover.
