Default Fuel Pump on D2?

How long do fuel pumps last on D2s? I have 149K miles on my truck, should I replace it? I drive the truck a lot and don't want to be stranded somewhere in the mountains.

When the fuel pump starts to go, it will usually give you fair warning. If you want to see how strong the pump is, get a gauge on the fuel rail to see what pressure the pump is putting out.

They are pricey I would not replace it unless it is showing low pressure at the shraeder valve.

I'm pretty sure you can replace just the pump, which looks like this.

They range in price from $50-$80 depending on whether you get a pattern part or the OEM Delco. Unfortunately I don't know the PN for the DII, but I'm sure someone here does.
The one on my D1, essentially the same pump, lasted about 225k miles or so.

If it is broke, leave it along.
The secret to not burning out a pump is to never drive when you are below 1/4 and empty because at that low level, your pump as no gas left in the tank to keep it running cool.

I might just buy a used one for $40 and keep it in the truck just in case along with a crank position sensor. Good to know these trucks have decent pumps in them.
