Before you go messing with the fuel pump, which you can get cheaper online at a Rover parts supplier, check for spark the next time it happens.
You dont say how many miles are on your truck but the crank sensor is guaranteed to go bad.
80-100k mile range is when the usually go bad.

Its the three amigos typical thing, turn off the truck and start it a few times it will go away, but it will be back, look in the writeups section for the fix.

Dear all,

I´m new here and my disco II is behaving bad, it starts normaly but after certain time it dies, if you leave him for 45min you can start it again and work like nothing happened before but will die again.

The machine returned the code p1230

What is the idea please?

Default 98 discovery fuel pump, power or bad pump?

I'm also having fuel pump issues. We've checked the fuse. Seems fine. No fuel making it up to the fuel rail and I'm not hearing any noise from the pump when I turn the engine on.

Where is the crank sensor located?

What about a clogged fuel filter?

Currently, I'm struggling to pull out the pump. Is there a trick to this? Do you have to turn it counter clockwise or something? It is not simply lifting out. Would like to get a head start on this before the "real mechanic" comes home.

"Where is the crank sensor located?" back of the engine opposite the starter.
"What about a clogged fuel filter?" the fuel filter is just a sock on the bottom of the pump.
"I'm struggling to pull out the pump" once you have the retaining ring off it should lift out.
have you swapped the fuel pump relay, there are a half dozen like it under the hood

i don't know this u tube video might help but i would start a the 10 minute mark

Default Disco D2 Starting Problem

I have a 2004 D2 which has a starting problem.
The crank angle sensor has been changed and I now suspect the battery.
On a good battery what voltage should be measured across the battery poles, ignition off?
I measured 11 volts, started the car on third attempt, measured while engine running at 13 volts.
Turned engine off measured again got 12 volts.
Could it be that the battery is dying and not able to crank at the correct speed?
