Default Fuel Pump trouble

Hey Guys, new to the forum, just got a disco about 2 months ago and it seems to be a never ending fixer-upper. However I like it and i'm determined to keep it going.
So my problem is with a 99 disco I....The head mechanic from a land rover dealership diagnosed it to be my fuel pump, so I changed the fuel pump and its still not working. I took the old fuel pump apart to see if that was the problem and sure enough the one brush inside the actual pump was corroded to bits and disinegrated upon taking it out. As well I did not replace the fuel pump assembly, just the pump itself, so is there something i could have messed up in doing this? why is it still not working?

Thanks guys, I will post pics if need be. I'm determined to figure this out.

Do you know about the fuel pump reset switch under the hood?
Next to washer jug on firewall.
Fuses? Fuel filter pluged up?

I definitely did not know about the fuel pump reset switch, what must I do to reset it??? and could you describe the part a little better so I can locate it? I checked the fuses, They all look ok, except the one, it was one of the 6 or 7 main fuses under the hood, looked a little corroded, but not blown, 60A but dont think it had anything to do with fuel pump anyways. Will the fuel filter really get that bad that the vehicle just stops working? ive never had it sputter or hesitate before this, So I'm going to try the reset switch and see if that will help.

The reset switch is on the firewall, righthand side. It is a rubber button, press it and hold for 3 seconds.
And yes, a clogged fuel filter will make it n ot run. Or run really bad because it cannot get enough fuel.
