Default Troublesome Trouble codes that trouble me

Sooo I'm getting a pretty persistent p0306 and p1316 TC. I've changed my plugs and wires and such. I'm now leaning to the VSS as that's what my Innova told me the issue was as well as the fpr. I'm gonna give the rebuilt vss thread a go and hope for the best. I don't have any noticeable lose in power and very minimal hint an actual misfire. Granted I may not know I've lost power as this issue was gifted to me by the PO and never addressed. The original owner was more concerned about looking cool and stuff (luckily he also had money and bought nice ds and replaced diff plugs and such) and the PO was a mechanic so he never fixed things he owned (happens to be my friend) You guys think I should just do the VSS and wait and see if the issue persists or bite the bullet and replace the pressure reg as well?

I think I remember reading that a dirty (oil coated) vss can lead to intermittent codes ... Can anyone refresh my memory on that.

I think the cleaning is always a good start with sensors. but those vss seem to go out on a lot of trucks.

Vss rebuild was easy, the only thing I recall is bad/ shorted vss tells ecm you are flying and shuts engine down, but I had a fuel pressure sensor kill the TPS signal anything is possible

You could unplug the VSS for a test, but you won't have a speedometer.

All quick and easy checks. Kinda thinking the vss is the case as it gets hard to maintain the 75 mph speed limit sometimes on the highway as I think it thinks im going 483828485 mph when im lucky to hit 75 without burning a 1/4 tank getting there. Ill roll under there tomorrow and clean the vss. Its the stu p id barely accessible thingymabob in the region of the tcase fill plug correct?

That be the one. If you have a code scanner that shows live data you can watch the vehicle speed and see if it is acting strange.

Many read a few mph faster than actual to prevent SWMBO from collecting so many violations. Police radar and laser units are exceptionally accurate.

I haven't noticed any strange or erratic mph readings on my UG just that it's about 5 mph slower than my speedos reading

Is it normal for the vss to kill the injector to the same cylinder every time the vss faults? Orrrr should I be looking else where for the culprit?
