Hey,
Congrats on the disco, they are pretty awesome vehicles, and I totally know what ya mean about the sitting in these things. I tell ya, I think the Rover plays mind games with you, it feels like you are ten feet off the ground. On another note, I used to own a 2000 wrangler sport and this is such a leap it's not even funny. I mean you will miss it sometimes, just for the sheer simplicity of the wrangler, door removal, carpet cleaning, engine work, oil changes, ya know all that jazz.
As for mods. I have put a ton of thought into what I should have done with my rover first and here is the outcome.
preventative maintainance!!!!!!!!!!! Seriouslly, these are good cars but you need to put the time into looking after them. I have had mine for a year, I did little in the beginning to take care of her b/c the wrangler was bulletproof.... these are not. Get it checked out, or look up how to's in our forum on basic rover care, I am kicking myself for not doing it sooner.
Good Luck

Premium Gas ALWAYS. 91+ octane every time you fill up. I use 93 octane, but some have a hard time finding it. Congrats on the new Rover and welcome to the greatest website devoted to all things Rover. I recommend you search through some of the past threads here. Spend 30 a day reading back threads. Your Rover Knowledge will skyrocket in a week. If you can't find an answer to your question, as always, ask and you shall receive.

p.s. Wow TWO ex-jeep owners converting to Land Rover...Fantastic!

thanks for the advice guys.my jeep was a 2000 sahara hard top 60k on it and mint.it was a really hard decision for me to make a move like this especially knowing absolutly nothing about these vehicles.I mainly purchased it for the extra room but these things are really nice i just dont know how much money it takes to keep one up in comparison to my jeep.

You MUST use premium, if you are on a trip and all you can get is regular it's not going to blow up, but if you use regular gas your mpg will suffer. These are high compression engines and that is why you have to use premium.
These trks arent anymore expensive to maintain, you just have to stay on top of it.
AutoZone has common parts readly avalable, www.atlanticbritish.com has everything you could ever want for your trk as well as tech tips.
www.roversnorth.com, www.roverconnection.com. there are tons off parts suppliers out there and the parts are no more pricey than for a Jeep if you know where to look.
If you go to roversnorth's web site you can order a catalog which is also a small magazine. It has stories in it and is just fun to look at and read.
Enjoy your trks guys.
