fuel smell

Default fuel smell

sometimes when i start my discovery i smell gasoline but theres no leak in the tank, well i never see any wet marks under it so i assum it dosent leak. is it the fuel filter?

Hmm... Just a shot in the dark but maybe you should look at your injectors?

Im gonna guess a leaky injector o-ring, Either that or a bad fuel line somewhere.

On DI's the fuel filler neck can start to leak from age.
It wont leak alot, but just enough to give you that gas smell if you stand at the back of the truck.

If it happens only when you start it and you can smell it from inside the truck look into a full carbon canister, which means you have a clog in the EVAP system.

96 115000 miles. yes i can hear it inside the truck so spike might be right. ill look into it thank you

Yes, It's absolutely from the fuel filter joints or may be from the pipe line which connects from the tank to filter, there should be minor hairy crack in the pipe line. But it won't appear as wet.

Has your Disco been in for the fuel tank recall due to cracking on the top?
If you don't know, your local dealer should be able to tell based on the VIN.
