I've just re-read this thread from the beginning--often a useful exercise--and what I got from it was this: you've said a couple times, "there's gas coming out the tailpipe".

How do you know that's gas?

So I started it this morning and went inside for maybe 2min to let it warm up and defrost. When I came back out it was dead and wouldn't start and had black puffs coming out when I tried to turn over.

I am having it towed back to the mechanic now (free with AMA membership).

While I was out doing errands this morning I stopped and talked with the mechanic and told him what happened, the codes i got, what you guys had said, and what had happened.

He said again that there was fuel in the oil and it was flooded when I took it in before. And verified again that it was fuel coming out of the tail pipe.

He says he thinks that its some sort of electrical and/or computer issue. They tested all of the injectors when they did the head gasket job and they were all functioning correctly.

He said after I get it down there he will give me a call this afternoon and let me know what he has found out and take it from there.

I almost just want to have it towed 120 miles to Land Rover in Des Moines and have them figure this out but I know that will $$$ me even more. I am almost at my whits end now, for 2 months now I have just been sinking money money and not getting anywhere with this truck. It ran like a dream and I kept-up on all of the maintenance for almost 20k miles before this rough patch...

Thanks Spike,

The LR got to the tech's at about noon I think and he assured me it was top priority but I didn't hear anything back from him today.

I will certainly keep this updated as I know more.

Thanks again for all the help-

Default She is Running Like a DREAM...

So it was the Bosch o2's upfront. They were "sending incorrect voltage signals" and messing everything up. These were the direct fitment ones for the 4.6l from Bosch and I double check the parts numbers. Obviously the rears and fronts have different length wires so they didn't get mixed up and the 2 fronts are supposed to be interchangeable so I can only believe that they had a factory defect or something.

I put 2 new Denso's in, put 400+ miles on it now, and she is running like new again. I am taking all 4 of the Bosch o2's back today to get my money back.

So finally after about 2 months and $2,800 she is not leaking a drop of anything, running great, idle is perfect, and got 12.2mpg going 75mph for 2.5hr with the heat on full blast because its -10degres in Iowa.
