Default Fuel tank skid/protector

Here's an easy one: Did D1's come with a plate/protector over the fuel tank? I don't have one, and that plastic tank looks pretty vulnerable to rocks.

AB sells one for..ready?..$699. Ouch.

Yes, they had a thin metal strap, but the tank is exposed.
Look at RTE for their fuel tank skid plate.

I'll probably make my own. $50 for some 1/4" aluminum, all I need to do is buy myself a welder
