Based on the original post, I wonder whether he didn't already have an oil leak, and he's blown a path in his headgasket from coolant to oil, such that they're mixing on the way to the leak.

That would explain the color of the leaked oil, and also the coolant odor.

I think I'd get a pressure test on my cylinders...

Check the heads--a general pressure test will tell. I was pissing out all sorts of oil from mine and thought i would need to do the oil pan--it was just that bad on the heads. So start there, it is common enough.

Ok, I found coolant pooled up in the grooves on the valve cover. Not sure what that means though. That sure does explain the coolant smell.

It has got to be the small line that runs to the throttle body heater. I don't think that there is any other line with coolant that runs over or on top of the valve covers . Unless, one of the radiator hoses or the radiator itself is shooting coolant back towards the engine. Best to have the coolant system pressure tested and try to track down the source of the coolant. best of luck. Phil

Tighten up or replace the throttle body heater plate ($20).
