understood not to put 87 in it and disco 2’s need premium.

But curious if 89 works just as good as 93?

I’m all for paying the extra 20 cents per gallon for the 93, as opposed to the 89 mid grade premium.

but just curious if you would get pinging and loss of power with a mid grade, such as 89 or 91.

does everyone use 93? Or does anyone use mid grade fuel in their disco?

Garrett, this topic has been covered dozens and dozens of times on this forum, including in the last month. The search feature is your friend.

 

91 is all you need

 

It's 92 or 93 depending on the season, but yes, I use Premium. Anything else just doesn't make good power and it pings slightly.

The volatility of fuel is highly affected by atmospheric pressure (i.e. altitude) so the higher up you are, the lower grade you can go. But as mln01 says, perhaps try checking for the answer to your question before posting yet another thread on an extremely common topic.

Unless I’m doing it wrong I found zero search results for “gas” and one for “midgrade” fuel back in 2015.

Perhaps I should have used “fuel” or “premium”.

but my question was mainly is midgrade ok and if anyone does it and results. My manual says nothing about using 93 yet everyone recommends it. Believe it says something like 90 but in my state I only have 89 or 93.

Couldn’t find that in the forums and If I missed it I apologize.

Now before I post there is an anxiety level of missing the question perhaps 4 years ago in the forums and being called out 😅

I do try and research first before just posting a question. I agree, that would be annoying not to.

"gas" is too short to use as a search term. The site should respond with a message telling you that it was excluded from your search criteria.
The 2004 Owner's Manual says explicitly that you should us 90 or 92 AKI / 95 or 96 RON.

 

@Garrett Larrow If I can make a suggestion, just note in a post that you searched for x and did not find anything or as is more common got conflicting info. It helps that people know you tried search engines, you can get pretty odd on the results, also search using Google rather than MS Bing. Bing is pretty poor
