Gear Box Oil Over heating
I recently purchase a 1999 Discovery 2 and my (Gear Box Oil temperature too high) indicator light comes after about 5 min of normal driving. Does anyone know what this could mean and what I should do?
Hi-
I traced the light on my dash to the manual and it refers to "Transmission Oil Temperature". The light is not steady. It comes on sometimes and then goes off. The longest it every stayed on was for about 40miles. I just started noticing it a few days ago after I had a tuneup and state inspection. The only other change was the weather. When I purchased the used (163K miles) suv the weather was cold. Now we are having 70 degree weather and this light shows up. I drove it today for about 5 miles and no light. I thought it could be the transmission fluid being low but I don't know how to check it. I don't see an dip stick. Any help would be needed. I don't want to go to the dealersip not knowing what could be wrong or what to expect to pay to have the problem fixed.
