Just wondering if anyone on here has ever removed the genuinely car radio & if so how do you remove the centre console ?
Reason I ask is when I purchased the vehicle there was already a Bluetooth parrot kit fitted and everytime I turned on the radio etc you were getting pop from the speakers.
I’ve disconnect the parrot box but the cable from behind the radio is still plugged in and concerned if this can any harm or drain battery over time ?
I need the centre console off as the wires are tucked way behind and can’t access them to remove cable totally .
The best thing to do is to download a copy of the Rave manual, and that can show you what to do. It’s in section 76.46.40. There are a number of other sections for the stereo as well.
Specifically, getting that center stack out can be a bit tricky and they are extremely notorious for cracking/breaking when someone doesn’t pay enough attention in removal. This is what it looks like fully removed.
For the switch pack and the central lock side pods, there are 3 screws on each side behind them. There is one behind the head unit on the top middle of the center stack and also at least one on each side after you remove the ash tray and coin holder on each side.
The hardest part is getting the HVAC controls and the switch/central lock pods out. It is very tricky and feels like you are going to break them. Using butter knives for the HVAC controls and a credit card for the central lock pod seem to be the best way based on YouTube videos.
Once all that is out, you have to be very careful not to break anything (I’d say odds are not good that none of that is broken already). After that, you have enough space for a party in there. The things to keep in mind is remembering all the connections for the stuff you removed: 2 for the central locks, 3 for the HVAC, and possibly 5 for the switch pod. This is in addition to the radio connections.
Easiest way to get everything out is start with the radio. Use two hanging file folder hooks, put in the radio slots and pull the radio out. Once out, the only tricky part is the two screws in the radio opening that screw in from below the top of the opening. Yes, sounds weird. Look at a facia on ebay for all the screw holes.

It’s funny you say to start with the radio (and I think that is the procedure in the Rave as well). With the aftermarket head unit I have, it’s actually easier for me to remove the fascia with the radio installed. Obviously that won’t work with an OEM radio, but just struck me funny you mentioned it. When I did the dash not too long ago and removed the center stack, the radio came out with the whole thing- much easier.
Of note, I also have removed the “brace” attached to the dash for each of my stereo installs as it makes wire management infinitely easier.
