Getting towed by a flat-bed?
I have heard that there can be problems with getting towed by a flat-bed tow truck as the rear suspension attempts to "do its thing" but can't because of the way the rover is attached to the truck causing the air bags to blow or the compressor to burn out. Have you all ever heard of this and if so what should I tell the people towing the rover? I have had my rover towed twice and only one of the truck drivers had heard of this before and told me.
Mine does it or at least I hear the compressor going after I turn the car off. Thats kinda what I was asking though, if the compressor only does that a few min after turning the car off then I wouldn't imagine it being a problem, but if not I don't want the hassle of getting a tow company to fix my truck.
I've never noticed it settling down but it does do something. I just wonder if it adjusts after it has been turned off other than right when I am getting out. The only way to tell would be to move the car after it is turned off but I have never done that. That is why i was wondering if the tilt of the flat bed would make the suspesion want to level out.
When you say a flatbed, do you mean all 4 wheels on the truck ?
if so, then it wont matter if the bed is even at 45* as the geometry of the suspension "within" the Disco will still the same. It may lower the rear very "slightly" as the weight transfers more to the back of the vehicle because of the tilt, but it would not be much. Mine drops a very small amount when I drive the front up onto ramps to work on it, but its not a lot at all.
The compressor should not be running at all when the vehicle is turned off.
