If that would have been a gas motor someone would have had
to pull youout as the V8's hate water.
I wish I had a diesel LR.
Well, mine is a V8. I'll be doing more to help keep things dry as time goes on though. I second the diesel comment but we'll never see another true new Land Rover in North America diesel or not.

What's a safe depth that you can take a stock disco through without having to worry about incurring any electrical or mechanical problems?
A D1 can take a little more water then a D2 because of the placement of the air intake. On a D2 it is up under the drivers side well well and I wouldn't go deeper then the height of your tires, as long as you go at a slow steady speed and don't stop. With a D1, there is not your engine likes about water, they can stall when water hits certain connections or your ECU but in general you can take water up to a couple inches below your air intake.
Remember the rest of your seals thru the fire wall and door seals, make sure they are all good.

Yeah I second all that. The problem here other than the inner fender being missing (which was the real issue) was that it wasn't 'flat' water, it was over rutted deep mud so 'smooth' wasn't a real option. Adding a snorkle will fix the issue though for the most part. I'm also re-doing the left side of the engine bay with a sealed box around all the electronics, battery, etc once I get rid of the SAI pump. I don't want to stay in deep water since my speakers wouldn't take it but moving through it en route is sometimes needed.

Thanks for the advice guys...doesn't flood to much up here in WI, but I could really have used my LR when I lived down in New Orleans for 5 years.
