Keep in mind … The glovebox light only illuminates when the headlights are switched on.
Ask me how I learned this. #facepalm
And how did I learned this? Fuse and bulbs kept blowing on my headlamp running lights....I finally found the glove box light's plastic trim piece that holds it in place was broke, the light bulb assembly would bounce and arc on the metal hanger and blow the fuse and the bulbs.
Cheers Motörhead1 for your input as well as others. When it blew your fuse did it also blow the instrument cluster lights ?
Not in my situation it didn't. I do remember when I was trouble shooting my situation, that the disco's electrical has left and right circuits (at least for the running lights, I'm not sure about others). I was surprised, never seen that before, and it's just one of the many times I've praised Land Rover for such great engineering for repairing/trouble shooting. A lot of experience has been engineered into these rigs.
Land Rover made a few improvements since my 1963 S2A which only had 2 fuses for the whole vehicle, and the whole wiring diagram fit easily on one page.
Well folks after weeks and weeks of trying to work out the issue I was having with my instrument cluster illumination blowing Fuse 3 it turned out to be the glove box light was knocking against the metal recess in which it’s situated as one side of the cover had a broken lug.
