Default Glovebox wood trim: From gray to wood {PICS}

Hello everybody--First off, I hope everyone had a fantastic and joyful holidays.

Now, this is a simple project to transform my gray trim above the glovebox to a luxury wood trim look. If you guys don't know the Westminster Edition Discovery doesn't come with wood trim.

So instead of purchasing the whole dash wood kit for $150-$200, I purchased a wood grain vinyl sticker from ebay (just search for wood grain vinyl). It sells for about $5 for a 12"x15" roll.

Check out the pictures.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

It took about 1/2 hour, very simple process. The use of a hair dryer also helped form the vinyl around the corners. Let me know if you have any questions.

I know it's personal preference but I hate the wood trim look. Both my vehicles have it and I want it gone. Thanks for the vinyl sticker tip, that's a great idea! Anybody have a suggestion what color trim would look good with tan interior?

yesmar, I'm planning on covering the center switch plate (heated seats and window switches) and the rest of the area around the shifter. But I'll need to order more vinyl sheets.

I love the vinyls, my only concern is the cold weather. It it will unravel or the sticky will dry up.

I think aluminum would look cool, but you'll probably have to look for the whole dash kits as you can't paint them aluminum color.

If you were doing a solid color I would just paint over the trim piece, seems easier than dealing with a sticker. Rustoleum has that gold lame color that would be sweet.
