Lokking to get a Discovery in a few days. Here are my available options let me know what you think. 02 SE has 62k miles $7900 1 owner lease turn in. Looks and drives pretty good. Some issues with interior, Headliner coming off, missing cupholder. Other than that ok. Second 03 HSE with 112k $5900. Tires need replacing right away interior needs some tlc. 04 S model with leather/sunroofs 52k $8900 good tires. Paint damage on front of hood and above windshield due to bug damage. What direction should I go? Fast responses appreciated

 

'04 hands down.

 

The '02 has the 4.0 litre engine, the '03 and '04 have the 4.6

 

The '03's have high oil pump failure rates. It is a manufacturing defect and will not be backed by LR. The only fix is a new engine.

 

The '02 will have more options than the '04, it is the base model. But the '04 is the better choice.

 

'04 is the last year of the Discovery as we know it, the LR3 replaced it.

 

You MUST use premium gas, you can expect 12-14mpg in town and 16-18 on the exspressway.

 

The '04 has the CDL (central locking differential), a must for serious off roading, the '02 does not have it.
