What year is it? How many miles? I'm assuming it's a discovery 2, because that's the forum you've posted in, but I've been wrong before.
Do you have sun roofs? Someone posted somewhere recently that he has seen a couple of D2 come in recently that had symptoms similar to crank position sensor failing that was really corrosion in one of the fuse boxes.

A few months ago i has the same issue, i replaced sensors.scanned the system kept happening to the point where i.could not getit to start at all. Ended up being the Fuel pump multifunction switch. It would cause the rover to die as soon as the switch got hot. I had to thenhave it.towed to a local repair shop since I was new to the rover. The part is about 160 if I remember correctly. I do blame my sun roofs for causing.possible corrosion in the unit. Found that they both leaked. Runs.like.a champ.no.issues since
