Going to replace oil pan gasket - do rod bearings too?
I have a slight oil leak from the rear of the pan gasket. I replaced it about 50K miles ago, so about due for a replacement anyway. Was wondering what it looks like to replace the rod bearings "while I'm in there". Good idea? Bad idea? They don't have signs of needing replacement that I'm aware of, but we're at about 215K miles on the original ones too so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Any tips or things that made the job easier? Not the pan, the bearings.
Maybe it’s a good idea but I personally wouldn’t touch them if they show no signs of a problem. I doubt that the rod bearings will be the first item to go when the engine is ready for a rebuild (I doubt that new rod bearings will make your engine last longer).

Noted. Yeah oil pressure is excellent, I’ll just leave them then. Thanks all!
Maybe examine a couple while you are in there. Easy to examine, no cost. Both my trucks were down to the copper, especially the top bearings (since they receive the combustion force).
I feel good about replacing them. If badly worn, maybe check the crank bearings too.
