Default Gonna have to part it out....

So, found out why the tires were slanting. Some bent **** in the front end. $1,745.28 worth. If this forum has a dumbass of the year award, I nominate myself. Anyhow, I don't have that kind of money and even if I did, I wouldn't put it into front end work. Looks like I will be parting it out. Unless y'all have another suggestion.

Dude just replace the bent parts from a junk yard.

Check out pullapart.com See if they have a location near you, if they do check for a discovery. If not I can get the part for you. If its not too big, I can ship it.

the pull a part in new orleans had 2 yesterday, but it seems to have gotten tossed. The other one has been there since 5/5/2010 and I already raped it about 4 times but the drive line stuff is there.

I'm too lazy to go back and search, but:

So you're saying "bent" as in the front axle tube is bent?

If not the axle tube- the front hubs? (probably undriveable)

Swivel pins are rebuildable under almost any conditions.

Those are the items I can think of that would cause negative camber

If you did the work yourself, you'd be well under $1,000

If it's swivel pin rebuild, you're under $200

luck,greg

Here's what the estimate shows

PARTS
1 - Gear box
1 - Power steer f (not sure what that is....at $5.98, must be a quart of ps fluid?)
1 - Sleeve
2 - Tie rod

LABOR
Straighten front axel housing
Replace toe adjusting sleeve and tie rods
Align front end
Replace steering gear box (shaft is bent)

I checked out several wrecking yards over the weekend. Only one had any Discoverys and they were a 2000 and a 2003. Are their front end parts interchangeable with my DI?

The other problem is tools. I have normal tools, but any time I've had to work on suspension, I had the luxury of air tools.

I looked at pickapart.com, but none in Texas. Checked many of their locations and no Disco's near Texas either. Thanks for the info, though. Their prices seemed pretty good for being so organized. Usually, the "nicer" the yard, the higher the price.

No, a 2000 and an '03 would not interchange. Check out http://www.car-part.com/
or even e-bay. Swap the whole front axle with a good used one and you could get away cheap.

Thanks for the link. So I would need an entire axle assembly, plus the gearbox and tie-rods? I'm not exactly sure what to look for.

was your rover in a accident? It's not easy to bend a solid front axle housing.
