Thumbs down Good day turns bad

After a good day of rabbit hunting (I limited out by 11), I'm now sitting on the side of the highway waiting on AAA after my d2 decided to drain her coolant. Everything was going fine, no history of over heating. Really hope she just blew a hose! Don't feel like crawling underneath with the 95 mph idiots whizzing by!

Best wishes to you. Hopefully it'll be something small like hose, themostadt, coolant tank, even a water pump.

Man with that many lucky rabbits feet with you imagine what would have happened had you not bagged any.

Haha, I guess I went wrong dressing them in the field. If I'd have only waited until I was home. . . Of course then I'd have to deal with the wife (she tolerates hunting, but dressing them in the backyard would be a different story). I may be better off, but we'll see what the damages are before I make that declaration!

You may get lucky and it could just be a broken nipple on the reservoir tank or something small like that.

The shop says it's a hose!!

However, they're also saying it's a $60 hose and that it'll take 1.5 hours to install, for a total around $250.

I live 0.6 miles from the shop and it takes about 3 minutes. My question is, can I drive home from there without doing any damage and do it myself, saving the money? If I have to have it towed home, it wouldn't be worth the savings.

sounds about right if it was the plastic fitting at the bottom of the reservoir to the radiator...

You like playing Russian roulette?
Get the hose, replace it at the shop (if they will let you) and fill up with coolant and drive home. Don't gamble on major repairs by driving without repairing it.

I checked around on prices for the upper hose, and they're not marking it up any. I guess it could be worse than $217.
