Flyingzebra, I'm also in Colorado Springs would you be able to provide some guidance on HG replacement for a newbie, I have been reading the posts here and it does look intimidating... My rover needs it - as I am current nursing a leaky HG and front cover. Appreciate any input. I think I'll call up Sleek Motors too for an estimate. Thanks.

Hello!

I can get an estimate together for you today if you would like. We currently have two Range Rovers in for big jobs (transmission and head gaskets) and a Disco II and defender 90 for lift kits and bigger tires.

We would be more then happy to get you in before thanksgiving to get the machine work started and parts ordered. We can have the job completed by early next week.

Let me know what year and model rover you have and I can let you know how much you are looking at. We give special rates to forum members!

Please feel free to call us or stop by the shop!

Unfortunately we were not around 21 months ago. We would have been more then happy to help!

I was simply trying to avoid starting a new thread for the same topic!

Thank you to everyone who has responded and made appointments with us!

We look forward in helping the rover community here in Colorado!

Let us know if we can help!

Respectfully,

Joseph

Yes I can. I've done quite a few between mine and a few others. This is a great motor to learn on. I used a Victor reinz kit for like 200 bucks and spent a few hundred more on some misc tools and fluids. Machining the heads is almost always a must and can normally be done for under $100.

Typically takes 3 days between tear down, machining, and rebuilding.

Send me a message if you have any questions and I'll get you my cell number to go over anything.

FlyingZebra34, thank you very much... I am going to have the truck looked at before I get to far into it. Right now I have been keeping an eye on fluids / etc and it may not be as bad as I initally thought, however I am by no means an expert. Hoping that I get good news from the inspection and then go from there. I do have an extra set of heads though, so I will get them machined and ready for WHEN i have to do the HG.

PM me if you have time, I would love ask some questions about what I may be getting into. Thank you.

Cheers!

So, ended up getting a shop to do my engine. I had the head gaskets, timing chain, coil pack and seals done. This was not my initial intent, however the shop gave me a really reasonable quote and was extremely helpful. They did an outstanding job, doing the work in a very short time… the staff identified any issues and ensured that I was happy

I have to say, that all my dealings with Sleek Motoring have been nothing but OUTSTANDING. I would highly recommend them for any Land Rover work… Chris the mechanic there has an enormous amount of experience with Rovers and the maintenance associated. While at the same time, he is very friendly and takes the time to make you feel comfortable with the work being done - explaining what needs to be done as well as what might come up in the future. Have a look at their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sleekmotoringllc

Joe the owner has been great to deal with… if you need any help with your LR give them a call I did and the experience was great!
