Default To good to pass

New owner of a 97 Discovery, I have thought about buying one for a few years but couldnt find one in good condition. I have a non extended chevy and a Miata and three grand-children, no room for my daughter. So I began look in for something bigger. A friend of my son and law has a car lot and had the discovery on the lot hid in the back.
The 97 SE had 98k miles and never damaged and the paint(White) was spotless, interior was like new. Oil pan gasket shot but no leaks elsewhere.
I went to the lot with tools and guages in hand, compression was spot on and the electrical system was normal and AC compressor was excellent. Found the service manual in the glove box and every service had been documented. Noticed it had a new master cylinder and the brakes had firm pedal. While underneath the truck I noticed that the flex-couplers had been replace with new shafts and u-joints.
He was asking $4600 and after I gave him a list of problems and the fact that it would be for the family we agreed on $2500.

I have change both axles and the transfer-case to syn.,flushed the cooling system, replaced the cork oil-pan gasket with high-temp rubber gasket, plan to take to my friend BMW shop to replace the tranny fluid. I replaced the factory radio today with after market today( what a pain ). Mounted a set of new Bridgestones.

This Discovery drives like new and I hope to enjoy it for many years to come.

Glad to hear. It's a requirement that all new owners post pics!

Where did you find the high-temp rubber gasket for the oil-pan? I need to do this as mine has a slow leak.

Very, very clean truck. It looks like it has a lot of life left in it... Hell, it looks like it was just driven off the lot in '96!
