Default Got some stuff done to the disco!

So it was time to do a bunch of work that I had planned for the disco.

It had bad tranny cooler lines, engine oil cooler lines, bald tires, saggy springs, leaky shocks, worn out brakes, rotted and badly patched exhaust, and in need of a tune up.

My focus was to restore and improve the disco, but not to lose focus on what it does on a regular basis and how good it is in stock form.

Its job for the most part is to get me to work as well and drive the family around. Then once in awhile it will tow and go trailing.

So I contacted Atlantic British and quite an order.
All the oil lines that we were needed, new front calipers, and brakes all round. I decided it would be a good time to replace all fluids. so new tranny filter kit was ordered as well as new plug and wires, and a new serp belt. Then I decided that I didnt want to stray to far from stock....so I ordered the Super Gaz 1" lift kit. Springs, shocks and bushes.

For tires, I decided on 265/70/16. I was sure if i would like this size, so i decied to get them used. found a set of nokian's for $100. they seem to be ok, not to noisy....so far i like the size.

Then I needed to address the exhaust. Now Stock just never does it in this department, especially with such a lovely little v8 under the hood.

I decided to go all the way. My Y pipe had already been hacked and patched by the previous owner, so since I was going to need a compplete exhuast I contacted Todd at Toddco Suspensions and ordered up his headers, and had a custom 2.5" exhuast built front to back. The headers collect @ 2.5", custom y, with a 2.5 higflow magnaflow cat on each pipe, into one with a flowmaster then to the rear finished off with 3" dual chrome tips.

It feels like a brand new truck. the Suspension/tire combo has not screwed up the truck at all. It feels normal....( this is my first truck)

The tune up and has done wonders for smoothness.....

and the exhuast sounds so so awesome......I wish that I could drive without the tailgate just to hear that sweet sweet sound.

I will get pictures and some sound clips for you guys as soon as I can.

Thanks to all for your advice and direction.....and thanks for viewing...

Matt

Default Hurray for the DI

Glad to hear about your efforts on the DI. I have done a lot of similar work on my 97 DI. Awesome vehicles when "freshened up".

Looking forward to hearing your new exhaust, it sounds awesome fom the description alone. What kind of price did the custom exhaust run you?

It would be cool to put it on a dyno and see how many more horses it may be producing with that set-up.

It sounds awesome!!! I will say that I will never get sick of it!

I wish that I had a chance to do a before and after on the dyno....to put the proof out there for all the nay-sayers...

the price the custom y-pipe, 2 magnaflow high flow cats, and 1 magnaflow muffer....all in 2.5" stainless cost $800 for eveything...labour, materials.....

That last one sounds kinda sweet, sounds like you almost have power.
What exhaust did you go with and how much was it?
I need a new exhaust.
Where did you get it?

Sweet job, that qualifies as a "Sleeper" from appearance. Very nice job.

I got toddco headers, magnaflow hi-flow cats ( one for each pipe of the y), straight trough muffler and tips. The exhuast is custom 2.5" stainless steel.

labour and parts for the exhuast excluding the headers was $800. I went with the toddco headers becuase I needed a complete exhuast done front to back. With the toddco headers the factory y-pipe does not fit.

With this combo there is more power for sure, all across teh board. High rpm kick downs on the hiway espesially.
