Default greasing the drive shaft

I found 4 grease zirks on my 2004 Discovery SE drive shafts. Two on front and two on back.

I greased the u joint and the prop shaft zirks until grease squirted out.

Am I missing any grease zirks, and is this the updated drive shaft set up?

if there are only two on each one wouldn't that be a factory shaft? one for the slip joint and one on the one greaseable zerk. shouldn't the updated shaft have four? on the front shaft. I'm just asking...

There are 4 on the front and 2 on the rear. You need to have that front shaft rebuilt or replaced before it fails and takes out your tranny. Each of the 3 front u-joints must have grease fittings.
How mechanical are you, if you think you can rebuild the front shaft, send me your e-mail address and I will send you a PDF file that will walk you thru it along with good part numbers.

Yes, updated shaft should have 4 on the front shaft.

You probably know this, but the slip joint grease point has a threaded plug that is removed with small hex wrench, and fitted with a spare grease zirk.

The 5th one being for the centering ball if the shaft was rebuilt absolutely first class.

Only way to go in my opinion, if I am going all in on a high failure part I never want it to give me problems. Never can over stress the importance of properly greasing moving parts.

The front shaft must last longer than you think. My car has 140,000 miles and these appear be the original shafts. I admit I don't know the car's history except I bought it with a blown head gasket and multiple warning lights ( repaired now )

From the comments here, I'm guessing its the front drive shaft that fails. And per a couple of comments the "updated" shaft has 3 u joints.

I'm going to start looking for an updated front shaft.

Many thanks for the helpful comments.
