Grom HD radio dongle

Grom HD radio dongle
Anyone running the Grom HD radio dongle with the BT3 Bluetooth unit?
My radio reception is pretty poor and sounds bad.
Is the dongle a digital receiver or just a thing which cleans up the standard FM signal? It doesn't say it's DAB, which was what I had hoped.
Alternatively, any way of upgrading the LR antenna in the back of my Alpine head unit? Where does the antenna go anyway?
Thanks.

The antenna cable goes to a module located between the passenger side rear cargo window and the alpine window. You will see the antenna elements in the glass and a small button connector on the top of the glass right under the RF amplifier module. Make sure the wire and button are connected to the glass.
You have to remove that whole piece of interior trim around the rear quarter panel glass to access the small green module.
In my case I found the coaxial cable was separated from its compression connector. Like the cable had pulled itself out of the connector. I pushed it back in and the reception improved greatly. Not wanting to try to find a replacement for that connector I used electrical tape to hold it in place.
Also good reception depends on the head unit being grounded to chassis. Use an ohm meter to any chassis point and the metal case of the head unit. It should have ground continuity.
My Kenwood aftermarket head unit has a ground lug on the back of the chassis which I made sure was connected to a chassis ground point. It makes a huge difference in the quality of radio reception.
