3 Amigos coming on sporadically
Hi. I've got an '01 DII that just had the rear calipers, pads and rotors replaced. I would typically do this myself but schedule didn't allow so I took it to my local (non-Land Rover certified) mechanic. Seems like a pretty straightforward job.
However, since I've gotten it back, the 3 amigos come on intermittently when driving. If I stop and turn the truck off, the don't always come back on. I drive about 12 highway miles to work each day and on some trips they never come one but other times they do after a couple of miles. They have also come one just running around town.
I've taken a quick look at the shuttle valves on the ABS modulator, but didn't see any leaks. I'm wondering if this could just be a loose speed sensor when they replaced the calipers and brakes? I have the Rave so I will look up the rear speed sensor location at lunch, but thought I would post here to see if anyone had any other suggestions on things to check.
Also, I am planning a trip up to the mountains this weekend. Is there any danger in driving 2+hours (each way) with the lights on? I will have wife and kid with me.
Finally, is there anyone around Charlotte, NC that has a code reader that can read the ABS system?
Thanks for the feedback.

without codes ? could be anything from a seed sensor to a hub falling apart.
if the light hasnt locked in, it maybe something small.
with the amigo's ON, not only with the abs not work, but i believe the traction control nor the hill decent will work either.

That's correct, none of the three (ABS, TC, HDC) will work at all with the amigos illuminated.
If it wasn't leaking, then you can always do the option B bypass and clean the wheel speed sensors to see of that fixes anything real quickly and cheap. Best bet, like you said, is finding someone with a scanner or buying a scanner for yourself. I actually believe there's an iCarSoft scanner for sale in the classifieds section of the forum right now. I believe those do ABS codes.

If it's just only come on, I would start with the wheels first. After that, it's not really a bad job doing Option B with the right tools (the allen wrench socket/ratchet).
I saw people order the wire harness online and wait, O'Reilly carries these every day.

These are a little harder to find if you decide to not cut and splice but just tap into a ground wire and the green/yellow wire
