Angry Guess what was in my...

Transfer Case...

So today I decided to change the fluids in the F&R diffs and TC.
F&R diffs looked surprisingly good for the milage on the fluid.
Cracked open the Transfer Case drain plug and VOILA!

ATF.....

What kind of moron fills a the TC with ATF!?!?

Interesting, when I bought mine it also had atf in transfer case. I think that is a common lubricant on other makes and models for the TC. You can assume they ran it through the jiffy lube for a full service fluid change.

Ford, GM, Jeep...all take ATF in the t-case, take it to quick lube for maintenance and you get people who only know what their computer tells them, and if its wrong...
Also consider some quick lubes do not have the pneumatic pump for the gear oil and they use bottles for the diffs and they cant reach the t-case fill hole so they use whatever they got.

Probably the shop didn't know the difference between a range rover and a land rover. The BW transfer case in the rrc and p38 takes ATF.
